No claimed square changes hands.
Winning rules
Every empty square has a rule.
The organizer chooses one model before claims begin. That choice stays attached to the board, so everyone can see exactly what happens when a prize score lands on an unclaimed square.
The rule shared by every model
At each configured checkpoint, the first digit comes from the home or tracked team's score and the second comes from the away or opponent score. A 20-17 score lands on square 07. If that square has an owner, that owner wins under every model.
Home score forms the row. Away score forms the column.
The selected team is always first, whether it plays at home or away.
Overtime, extra innings, and added time count in the final result.
1. Allocate unclaimed squares
This is the recommended default. It guarantees that every square can produce a result while rewarding players in proportion to how many squares they claimed.
Unclaimed squares are distributed deterministically according to each player's share of claimed squares.
If the ownership proportions do not divide evenly, the remaining empty squares are shared according to claimed-square ownership.
The same locked board always produces the same allocation and winner.
2. Keep empty and use a previous score
Empty squares remain empty. When a prize score lands on one, the system walks backward through verified scoring states until it reaches the latest score whose square has an owner.
If 20-17 lands on empty square 07, the system starts there.
If the preceding score was 20-16 and square 06 is owned, that owner wins. The system does not simply subtract one point or guess a score.
If square 06 is also empty, the system continues through earlier scoring states, including the opening 0-0 state, until an owned square appears.
If no owned score has appeared by an interim checkpoint, that checkpoint's value moves into the next configured checkpoint.
If no owned square appeared anywhere in the completed game's scoring history, the remaining final value is split according to the number of squares each player owns.
If complete scoring history is temporarily unavailable, the result remains pending instead of using an estimate.
3. Public unclaimed squares
Unclaimed squares stay open for the whole group. When one wins, every participating player receives an equal share, regardless of how many squares each person owns.
The square's owner wins normally.
Every distinct player with at least one claimed square shares equally.
Play Final Digits records the split, but organizers remain responsible for any prize collection or distribution.
4. Require a full board
This model accepts no empty-square risk. If all 100 squares are not claimed when claims close, the board is cancelled and no winners are calculated.
Ninety-nine claimed squares still means the board does not run.
There is no allocation, public split, or previous-score fallback.
The product does not collect funds, so the organizer handles any outside refund or adjustment.
Choose before you share.
The selected model appears with the board and cannot be changed after setup.
